Coronavirus - VAT

Last updated, 30 March 2020 at 8:30pm

  • VAT liabilities for all businesses is being deferred until the end of June.
This is an automatic offer with no applications required. Businesses will not need to make a VAT payment during this period. Taxpayers will be given until the end of the 2020 to 2021 tax year (5 April 2021) to pay any liabilities that have accumulated during the deferral period. VAT refunds and reclaims will be paid by the government as normal.

  • VAT submissions will still need to go ahead, it is just the payment that has been deferred. Therefore please make sure you send us your paperwork by the usual deadline for us to get this completed for you

  • If you currently pay by Direct Debit (DD), we would recommend cancelling the DD for the next payment between April and June to avoid this being automatically paid (unless you are in a position to make payment). Please contact your bank to get this cancelled or use your online banking if applicable. You will then need to re-sign up to the DD scheme to avoid missing future liabilities.
